Automotive Recruitment Skyrockets going into Q4

Nov 1, 2017 2:15:09 PM / by Jack Skeldon

Salaries in the automotive industry have increased by 5% when compared to year-on-year data - advertised vacancies have increase by 18.8%

CV-Library have revealed some staggering statistics in their Q3 Job Market Report. This comes following a recent recruitment boom across all industries in the UK.

Within the top 10 industries for rising salaries year-on-year, Automotive came 4th with a 5% increase. This is largely put down to dealerships across the UK working towards offering the most competitive packages in order to attract the best candidates, and to keep driving the workforce forward.

In addition to salary increases, job growth in the the automotive industry increased by 18.8%. This is in contrast to the prediction that dealerships were to be one of the hardest to be hit by Brexit. The decreasing value of the pound has had an effect on their performance, however it can be seen that dealerships across the UK are still in recruitment mode, reaching out for the most talented candidates.

In other studies, CV-Library found that salary (32%) and the company they work for (23.7%) are the key considerations for today's job hunters. Therefore, dealerships must look towards offering competitive packages to attract the best candidates for the job. Being confident in your recruitment process, employer brand and workforce is the best way to do this.

Conclusion

At a time of economic uncertainty, the automotive industry is showing resistance. With the recent 'job boom' pushing up salaries, dealerships across the UK are working extremely hard to keep driving their recruitment efforts and attract talented new recruits into their showroom.

With today's unemployment rate at the lowest it has been since 1975, dealerships must now look to how they are conducting their recruitment, and whether their inefficiencies are allowing the diamonds of the industry to fall through the cracks of their processes.
